Bathroom, Kitchen & Basement Plumbing

A new bathroom starts with the pipes behind the finish. Spivak Plumbing handles bathroom and kitchen plumbing, rough-ins and basement bathroom projects in Toronto and York Region. We also provide the plumbing portion of basement apartments and secondary suites. Share the room layout before cabinets and fixtures are ordered.

Set the layout before the rough-in

A toilet’s position affects more than the floor plan. Drain routes, pipe access and the existing system can limit where a fixture will work. The same applies to moving a kitchen sink or adding a basement shower. We review the intended connections and explain what needs checking. Product specifications are useful when a selected fixture needs a particular rough-in dimension.

Working in an open room

Rough-in work puts the connections in place before surfaces are closed. Final fixture installation comes later. Agree on which stage is included and when the room will be ready. Required checks and inspections need to be dealt with before new work is covered. If the plan changes, discuss it before walls, floors or cabinets make the original connections difficult to reach.

Basement bathrooms and suites

The height and route of existing drainage matter in a basement. Describe the intended use and whether the wider project has drawings or municipal approvals. Adding plumbing does not by itself make a secondary suite approved. The owner and project professionals need to confirm the complete building requirements. We keep the discussion focused on the plumbing work and its relationship to the approved layout.

Bring the project details

For renovations in Richmond Hill, Markham and King City, send the city, available drawings and the construction stage. Tell us what is still finished and what has already been opened. If you are coordinating a contractor, identify who will approve changes. A clear plumbing scope should explain the work included and any access or restoration handled by others. Have any available product instructions or previous service records ready for the discussion. They can help identify what has changed and what still needs to be checked at the property.
