SPIVAK PLUMBING · TORONTO & YORK REGION

Water Lines & Repiping

Older Toronto homes can still have lead water services. Other properties have copper service lines or interior piping that needs attention. Spivak Plumbing replaces water services, upgrades supply lines and repipes homes in Toronto and York Region. We also replace shut-off valves and assess poly-B and galvanized piping.

Service line or interior pipe?

The water service brings water to the building. Interior supply pipes carry it to the fixtures. Low flow at one tap does not establish that the whole service needs replacing. Tell us whether the change affects one room or every fixture, and whether it started suddenly. Any information about the existing material and past work helps narrow down what needs checking.

Lead, galvanized and poly-B

Material should be identified rather than guessed from the house’s age. Lead services can be a concern in older Toronto properties. Galvanized supply pipes may have internal buildup or deterioration. Some homes built or altered in the 1980s and 1990s may contain poly-B; a build date alone does not confirm it. Share an accessible photograph if you are unsure. Inspection of the actual pipe is more useful than an assumption.

What repiping involves

Replacing interior pipe can require access through finished walls or ceilings. We discuss the affected sections, shut-off arrangements and access before the work is agreed. Ask which finishes will need opening and who will handle restoration. For a renovation in Thornhill or Richmond Hill, coordinating pipe work while walls are open can avoid repeating the same access work later.

Make isolation practical

A seized or leaking shut-off valve can make a small repair harder to manage. Tell us whether the valve serves one fixture or the whole home. For service replacement or an upgrade, include the property address and any known municipal connection details. The proposed scope should distinguish the outside service work from interior repiping so you know what is being replaced. Have any available product instructions or previous service records ready for the discussion. They can help identify what has changed and what still needs to be checked at the property.
